Under a Billion Stars
Jared Oosterhuis
This photo is a composite of several, taken of the Milky Way arc. It was shot over Lake Superior, where light pollution is limited, and the stars are some of the brightest in the Midwest. I went out on a cool night to a black sand beach and set up the tripod and camera to capture the Milky Way band before moonrise. I like how this photo turned out, because it shows the full arch of the galaxy and even a few shooting stars if you look closely.
